the 2021 Ardajani general election was the first election of Ardajan's Supreme Council The election results reflected a notable shift in the political dynamics, with the established Democratic Party of Ardajan experiencing a reduced victory, losing two seats under the leadership of the incumbent Premier, Kevin Verhaar.

Led by Shady Morsi and then Kevin Verhaar, the Democratic Party of Ardajan had been a dominant force in Ardajan's political arena, exerting influence from the year 2014 until 2021. However, the 2021 election brought about a change in this trend, as the party faced challenges from emerging political entities. Yeni Ardajan, a newly formed reformist party led by Furkan Varol, emerged as a noteworthy contender in the electoral landscape. Varol's party not only secured a seat but also posed a significant threat to the incumbent Premier Verhaar, coming close to unseating him. The election also witnessed the triumph of an independent candidate in the Enyilk Constituency, resulting in the unseating of Shady Morsi, but was returned to the Supreme Council after he was elected unopposed in West Ardajan.

Notably, this electoral event marked the first local election in Hasanistan since the 2013 Batyr Prime Election. The introduction of new political actors and the reshuffling of power dynamics underscored the evolving political climate in the region. The outcome of the 2021 Ardajani General Election is widely regarded as a weakening moment for the Democratic Party of Ardajan, signifying a departure from its prolonged dominance in Ardajan politics. The election results demonstrated the electorate's receptiveness to alternative political forces and hinted at a broader transformation in the political landscape of Ardajan.

Background

The Ardajan Democratic Party (ADP) played a central role in shaping the political narrative during this period. As a one-party state, the ADP and its forerunners held significant sway over the political machinery, rendering the general elections more of a formality. The Democratic candidate's victory in the internal party nomination was regarded as virtually securing the presidency due to the absence of viable opposition.

Over the years, Ardajan witnessed a notable demographic shift, particularly in the composition of its immigrant population. By 2021, a surge in immigration resulted in an influx of individuals, predominantly of Turkic origin, altering the cultural and ethnic makeup of the nation. This shift had a direct impact on the sociopolitical dynamics within Ardajan. The increasing number of immigrants, primarily of Turkic origin, contributed to a changing cultural landscape within Ardajan. This demographic transition also led to a reduced influence of the Viadalvian community in comparison to previous years. Despite these changes, both the Turkic and Viadalvian communities generally supported Cakar as the president and the Nomad Party in federal elections, creating a unifying factor at the national level. While both immigrant groups supported the president, divergences emerged at the local level. The Turkic and Viadalvian communities found themselves at odds over various local affairs, reflecting the challenges of integrating diverse groups within the framework of Ardajan's political and social structures.

Campaign

The Democratic Party of Ardajan campaigned on the pillars of incumbency and trust, the party emphasized its experience and commitment to the citizens of Ardajan. Notably, the party adopted a unique approach by primarily centering its campaign on fostering a symbiotic relationship with Batyr, steering clear of some local issues. The party's leader, Verhaar, asserted that "Chobanistan represents the Hasani heartland, positioning it as the quintessential Hasani province. Verhaar's speeches underscored a sentiment of "Ardajan being left behind" but that "We Ardajan left our Hasani family" In contrast, Yeni Ardajan, another significant contender, focused its campaign on reformative measures, advocating for proportional representation and a directly elected premier. Meanwhile, Independent Asenov carved a distinct niche by prioritizing Enyliki local affairs, pledging to bring Enyliki perspectives to the forefront in parliamentary discussions.

Results

The Democratic Party of Ardajan secured a narrow majority of two seats in the 2023 general election, allowing them to establish a government in collaboration with an independent candidate who emerged victorious on a nationalist agenda. This coalition marked a departure from previous single-party rule and set the stage for a unique governance structure in Ardajan. The election results were characterized by significant shifts in key constituencies, most notably in the ADP strongholds of Enylik and Ardajan East, where the incumbent Shady Morsi faced a decisive defeat after a tiebreaker. In Ardajan West, Shady Morsi, despite facing defeat in Enylik, managed to secure victory, running opposed in Ardajan West. Meanwhile, in Ardajan East, Premier Verhaar faced a formidable challenge, narrowly avoiding being unseated by a margin of just one vote. This closely contested battle highlighted the significance of individual votes and underscored the fragility of political power in the region. Aswell a demand of change
