The Salarian War, alternatively referred to as the Great Patriotic War in the southern region, marks a significant historical conflict between North Salaria and South Salaria. The war originated with a pivotal event: the invasion of North Salaria by forces from the southern territory. This hostile incursion ignited a period of intense and protracted conflict between the two Salarian factions, leading to a substantial and enduring impact on the geopolitical landscape of the region.
Initiated by the aggressive actions of South Salaria, the conflict took root in complex regional tensions, including differing ideologies, economic disparities, and long-standing political grievances between the northern and southern territories. The war, characterized by a series of military engagements, strategic maneuvers, and profound societal consequences, ensued for an extended duration, resulting in a South Salarian victory
Prelude
The Salaria Division was a significant geopolitical event that transpired on June 7, 2013, resulting in the dissolution of Hoogwaard due to internal instability and a lack of control. This rupture led to the emergence of two distinct factions vying for control within the schoolyard, particularly within the area of Salaria.
Following the disbandment, key figures Shady Morsi and Timo Vink relocated to separate sections of the schoolyard, with Salaria, the central point of contention, situated in-between their territories. Morsi, aligning himself with Marxist-Leninist principles, established the Salarian People's Republic (SPR) in the region of New Amsterdam. Meanwhile, Vink instituted his own capitalist regime in the northern sector, naming it "North Salaria," in direct opposition to Morsi's SPR.
The conflicting governments were entrenched in a belief that each was the legitimate ruling body of Salaria. Both entities regarded the division as a temporary phase, foreseeing eventual reunification. The Salarian People's Congress actively sought Morsi's backing in their pursuit of reunification, while Vink consistently vocalized ambitions to assert dominance over the southern territory. Tensions escalated in the run-up to the impending conflict, manifesting in frequent border skirmishes between the two opposing factions.
The escalating hostilities between the Salarian People's Republic and North Salaria ultimately laid the groundwork for the outbreak of armed conflict, marking a critical phase in the Salaria Division.
War
On 12th June 2013, tensions escalated as the Salarian People's Army (SPA) initiated a crossing over the border, igniting a conflict that resulted in the formation of the Salarian People's Republic (SPR).
The conflict was instigated by the SPA's incursion into North Salaria, following a declaration of war by the SPR against the northern territories. This move was propelled by a fervent call from Morsi, a prominent figure within the SPR, who proclaimed the necessity of uniting Salaria under a socialist banner of peace and freedom.
Initial skirmishes began at the border, where the SPA, a force characterized by determination and better-equipped soldiers, swiftly overpowered the unorganized and ill-prepared North Salarian Army. Within a day, on 13th June, the SPR gained control over 90% of North Salaria. Timo Vink, a key political figure, evacuated from Bostan along with a faction of the government, urging the remnants of the North Salarian Army to engage in guerrilla warfare to defend their territory.
In an unexpected turn of events on 14th June, Whovania declared war on South Salaria, citing the defense of Salarian democracy as their motive. Despite the declaration, Whovania refrained from deploying any troops to the conflict zone.
The North Salarian forces, severely outnumbered and under-equipped with only 3 to 5 troops armed with rudimentary wooden sticks, struggled against the better-armed and resolute SPA, consisting of 8 soldiers armed with metal batons and nerf pistols.
By the evening of 17th June, an absence of Timo Vink in North Salaria left the capital vulnerable. The SPA advanced unopposed and effortlessly took control of the capital, facing no resistance in the process. This marked the establishment of the Salarian People's Republic, effectively unifying the region and concluding the five-day conflict that had caused division and strife.
The Salarian Conflict of June 2013 stands as a significant chapter in Salaria's history, reflecting the consequences of ideological differences, military preparedness, and strategic maneuvers, ultimately culminating in the formation of a new political entity, the Salarian People's Republic.
