History of Tameden

Tameden politics

Tameden is an associated territory of the National Region of Hasanistan, a unique political status where Tameden is considered an external constituent entity which associates with the National Region but does not operate under its direct administration. Its status of association grants it local self-governance but does not allow it to participate in the central administration of Hasanistan, such as representation in the Mejlis or the right for its residents to vote in Hasanistani elections. This differs from Ardajan, another autonomous territory of Hasanistan, which is considered an integral part of Hasanistan and has representation in the Mejlis. As a territory of the Great Turan State, Tameden is administered under Biritanya Vilayet.

The President of Hasanistan serves as the ceremonial head of Tameden as the Lord-Protector, although executive power is exercised by a popularly elected Clerk. Legislative authority regarding bye-laws is vested in the Vestry, a direct and delegative democratic body where all enfranchised Tameden residents have the right to participate as legislators or delegate their voting power to another eligible resident. Although Hasanistani bye-laws are not required to be unanimously applied in the territory, it currently recognises all Hasanistani bye-laws. The political system of Tameden is reportedly based upon "Anglo-Saxon tradition".

No political parties, whether local or regional, operate in the territory.
