The Shadyvinkensteiner Archive Commission (Dutch: Shadyvinkensteini Archiefcommissie, SAC, refered to as the SACK) is an independent historical research body established by independent researchers and the former Secretariate for Historic and Archiveing and Secretariate for Cultural Affairs: of the Shadyvinkenstein Government in Exile,
the SAC is tasked with both recovering and reconstructing the digital public record of the Shadyvinkenstein state following the permanent deletion of Hyves, the social networking platform that had served as the country's de facto primary medium of governmental and civic communication. and the was relaunched, having previously been offline since its earlier discontinuation. The relaunch was widely covered in the Netherlands as the return of a defunct early social network, In response, the Commission announced it would establish and manage an official Hyves page on behalf of the Shadyvinkenstein state, distinct from its prior reconstructive work. Rather than attempting only to recover what was lost, the Commission will use the relaunched platform to:
- Re-establish a public presence for the state on the medium that originally hosted its communications
- Locate former citizens, officials, and civil society members who were active on Hyves during the earlier period, using the platform's own network and search functions
- Invite former users to come forward with any personal archives, memories, or accounts of the deleted material
- Use the page as a live point of contact between the Government in Exile and its historical diaspora of former Hyves-era citizens
The Commission is independent of the Shadyvinkenstein Government in Exile though 2 of the 4 former secretariats joined it, reporting to no minister or cabinet authority in the conduct of its research or in its day-to-day operation. This independence is bound up with its fraternal self-conception: the SAC regards itself as a gathering of those who shared in the Hyves-era experience of the state, rather than as an instrument of the Government that succeeded it. As such, its findings may extend to the conduct of the Government in Exile itself, and its membership, methodology, and governance are determined internally rather than by state appointment.
