Natsuki Hegro is a Hasanistani politician and ideologue who is currently serving as a deputy of the Consultative Mejlis and the ambassador to the United States. A member of the Feudalist Party, Hegro is known for his controversial anti-democratic and anti-liberal neo-feudalist ideology which has been called the "Hegro model", while rejecting the mainstream political left and right.

Hegro first came to prominence in Hasanistan in the prelude to the 2017 Hasani presidential election, where he expressed interest in being an independent candidate in the election[1] but did not stand. He was appointed as US Ambassador in 2019, his first Hasani political office.[2] He was first elected as a deputy to the Hasanistani legislature in the the February 2020 Hasani general election, where he was unanimously approved as the candidate for the Nun constituency[3] and later appointed into his first executive role as Interior Minister under the premiership of Hasan Çakar.[4]

Hegro identifies as a traditional localist who holds reactionary and anti-democratic beliefs, rejecting the basis of left- and right-wing thought. He proposes a specific model of aristocratic decentralised governance, called by him and his followers as the Hegro model, which he states has been tailored for modern situations such as it being adapted to modern technologies despite rejecting the philosophy of modernism and the Enlightenment. He believes in a strongly tiered social caste system in which there is as little economic mobility from the lower classes as possible, in order to prevent the rise of a non-aristocratic burgher class, or as Hegro terms it, "wealth without responsibility." He believes that rural agrarian life ruled by an aristocratic class protects integral concepts such as regional and local culture, and extended family units.[5]

Hegroian aristocracy embraces what it describes as a "system of natural checks and balances", referring to manoralism, whereby aristocrats controlling fiefs must meet the needs of the people (serfs) residing on them to ensure they are productive and do not revolt. The relationship between vassal lords and monarchs would be based on a similar dynamic, in which monarchs would also be required to balance the priorities of lower aristocrats to ensure their loyalty and the stability of the nation overall. According to Hegro, this leads to "maximum accountability" and ensures that any corruption is directly attributable to a ruling class that is placed directly in power. He contrasts this with democracy, where he says unlanded burghers without direct subjects use their institutional and economic power, through backroom puppetry of politicians, to manipulate governance for their own interests in a more discrete manner and thereby preventing any accountability to injustices.[5]

He supports re-establishing a Hasanistani monarchy, abolishing political parties, outlawing elections, replacing the legislature with an advisory body composed of vassals to a monarch and maintaining the policy of Hasanistani neutrality.[5]

Allegations of racism and xenophobia

In an interview with the Batyr Times ahead of the November 2020 Hasani general election, Hegro said he was a "famed incel racist gamer" and additionally stated "I oppose them [homophobic sexist bigoted xenophobes] because I am a racist".[5] However, it is generally believed he was mainly being satirical during those parts of the interview.

During a debate on the Special Registered Resident Voting Rights Act 2020, a controversial act which gave citizens of Mahuset, Brennonia and Cormac registered as Hasanistani residents the right to vote in elections, then-Prime Minister Hasan Çakar accused Hegro's opposition to the proposal of being based on anti-immigration sentiments. Çakar claimed he was conducting Trump-style race-baiting and said his ideas were racist.[6]
