The Slopfest 2026 Intermicronational Haxball World Cup, also known as the 2026 MicroWorld Cup, was an intermicronational esports association football tournament held between 14 June[1] and 7 September 2026. The competition began in parallel with the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament was originally co-hosted virtually by Brennonia, Hasanistan and Yotamistan,[2] although Mahuset hosted the final and the match for third place after the dissolution of Yotamistan.[3] The tournament's matches were played on the football browser game HaxBall in a one-on-one format. The tournament was organised by the governments of the three host countries, supported by the Intermicronational Football Federation and the Union of Brennonia and Hasanistan.[2]
The tournament was won by Brennonia, who defeated Nesea 8–0 in the final.[4] Parasolia took third place after a 10–2 victory over Tymbarc in the match for third place.[5] Nesea's player Filip I. Nesejský won the Golden Boot for scoring the most goals in the tournament, having scored 43 goals in total. Brennonia's Chase Mahoning received the Golden Glove for conceding the least amount of goals throughout the MicroWorld Cup, having only conceded two goals in the competition. Mahoning, popularly regarded as the tournament's best player, has been nicknamed "Brennongrad Messi" in recognition of his success.[4]
Format and organisation
The 2026 Intermicronational Haxball World Cup was played over HaxBall, a top-down football-inspired browser game. Matches were held in a one-on-one format, with each participating micronation being represented by an individual player.[2] The tournament had a multi-stage format, featuring an opening group stage followed by a single-elimination knockout stage.[2][1]
The idea for the MicroWorld Cup originated from the Acting Prime Minister of Hasanistan Hasan Çakar, who wanted to organise a HaxBall tournament for micronations and develop a "micronational counterpart" to the FIFA World Cup.[2]
Branding
The logo of the 2026 MicroWorld Cup consists of a stylised minimalist depiction of a traditional leather ball, parted into three pairs of panels coloured to represent each original host's national flag.[2] The typeface used in the wordmark is inspired by Art Deco.
The official theme of the tournament, produced by IFF Sound, was an unnamed Latin-style pop song. According to the Batyr Times, the song samples Hasanistan's 2022 Microvision entry "Nonsense Screamed Into A Microphone" by DJ Chase.[4]
Broadcasting
Participants
Twenty countries were registered to participate in the 2026 MicroWorld Cup.[1] The majority of the participating countries were based in Europe and North America.

Yotamistan, one of the co-hosts, initially planned to compete in the tournament but withdrew before it began, citing "undisclosed technical issues". Despite the country's withdrawal from the competition, Yotamistan continued to serve as a co-host and participate in the organisation of the MicroWorld Cup[2] until its dissolution on 14 August 2026.
Three countries (Arlandica, Gora Mira and Knuffeldierland) did not play any of their fixtures, two of which withdrew during the course of the tournament. Knuffeldierland withdrew due to "technical reasons". Gora Mira's player forfeited due to scheduling concerns and the country did not send a replacement player because of internal political instability. Arlandica was disqualified for inactivity and failure to play any of their group stage fixtures. Their respective opponents were awarded technical victories.

Controversies
Accusations of cheating
Hortania accused Mahuset of cheating in their Group E fixture, which Mahuset won 12–1. The Batyr Times described the Hortanian claims as fake news.[citation needed]
Minaki vs Independent Team dispute
In the playoff match between Minaki and the Independent Team, the Independent Team pushed the ball into their opponent's net at approximately the same time as the game's conclusion. The Independent Team's "goal" was not counted, which would have potentially equalised the score and took the game into extra time, resulting in Minaki winning the game 4–3 and the Independent Team's elimination from the tournament. The Hyacinthian Football and Futsal Federation, the governing body of the Independent Team, protested the recognition of the match's result and believed that a rematch should be held. The Federation accused tournament organiser Hasan Çakar, who had been observing the match to record it for broadcast by the Hasanistan Today and Tomorrow Network, of an "officiating failure". The tournament organisers and the HFFA initially agreed to seek arbitration over the issue, with Emiel van der Huijsen being appointed by the government of Brennonia to serve as the arbiter. However, both sides later agreed to drop the issue.[citation needed]
